Why did God give the remnant church the spirit of prophecy? Was Ellen G. White called to be a prophet to give the church something new? Or to bring to its remembrance what it had forgotten? Our distinctive truths are only distinctive because the world has forgotten them. The Spirit of Prophecy was given to shine light upon the truths that had been forgotten. We need the Spirit of Prophecy to remind us to read Bible verses in their right setting and to not spiritualize them away. The pioneers of the Seventh-day Adventist Church were not well-educated according to the world’s standards, but God equipped them in marvelous ways to do the work He’d given them. What was their view of Ellen G. White? Why does the church today not esteem the testimonies as the pioneers did? Do we remember where we came from? Have we forgotten what is our God-given trust? The Spirit of Prophecy was given to bring members of the church into unity. Why is the church not united in giving a message of warning to the world? Could it be because the testimonies have been rejected? May God’s people return to Him with their whole hearts and take the Three Angels’ Messages to the world and do the work that He’s appointed for us to do.
