Lady Jane Grey lived a very short life, dying at just 16 or 17 years old during a turbulent time in British history. She took the throne from King Edward 1, reigning for just days before Mary 1 took the crown from her and imprisoned her for treason. Though often thought of as a casualty of the politics of the English crown, in many ways she saw herself as a religious martyr as England went back and forth between Protestantism and Catholicism
