Who is Jesus to you? In this message, I explore one of the most dramatic moments in the Gospels—when Peter finally declares, "You are God's Messiah." For us, this might not sound like much. But for a first-century Jew, this was everything. This was the fulfillment of centuries of prophecy. This was the promised King. Here's what makes it remarkable: dozens of prophets over hundreds of years painted a picture of who the Messiah would be. Where he'd be born. How he'd enter Jerusalem. When he would come. And Jesus fulfilled every single one. But the real surprise wasn't that Jesus is the Messiah. The surprise was what kind of Messiah he came to be. The Jews expected a warrior-king who would overthrow Rome. Instead, Jesus said, "The Son of Man must suffer, be rejected, be killed, and on the third day rise again." This wasn't what anyone expected. But it was exactly what everyone needed. Jesus is the Messiah—not despite the cross, but precisely because of it. Kings aren't killed; they're crowned. But Jesus came to absorb the darkness, the death, the hopelessness that sickens every human heart. He came to defeat the real enemies: Satan, sin, self. This simple idea—that King Jesus suffered, died, and rose to save you—changed the world. And it can change your life today. So I'll ask you the same question Jesus asked his disciples: Who is Jesus to you? If he's just a good teacher, you'll keep taking only the parts you agree with. But if he's the promised King, it's time to surrender. No more excuses.
